The HI Manial Youth Hostel offers clean accommodation albeit the beds are not good. The dorm rooms sleep three or six people and there are no rooms for couples or families. Acquiring a teaching job in Egypt is tougher nowadays than in the past. Private K-12s, where the language of instruction is English, now annually produces graduates fluent in both English and Arabic who go on to take positions formerly occupied by native speakers.

Most of Egypt has a desert- type of climate. There is a vast difference between the day and night temperatures and the summer and winter temperatures. It is very hot and dry in summers but a little cool in winters. Dust- laden hot and dry winds blow during the early summer months of April and May. These dust storms are locally known as Khamsin.The rainfall is scanty. Only the coastal areas of Lower Egypt, which are near the Mediterranean, receive a little rainfall in winter. These areas enjoy a Mediterranean type of climate.

Egypt is a marvelous place with more than two thirds of the world’s treasures and numerous shopping opportunities. Thousands of shops are dotted all over the country, where you’ll find everything from antiques to fine clothing and especially jewellery.
